Marcelo Brozovic’s claimed asking price has been all over the place in the Italian media over the past week or so, and now Arsenal have been dragged into it. Gazzetta dello Sport were among the worst culprits, almost doubling his asking price in a day.
In an article about Ivan Perisic, Gazzetta said of the midfielder: ‘It’s a different speech for Brozovic, deemed no longer necessary, Inter asks 25 million to 30 million for him.’
Then in an article about possible Manchester United interest, it was claimed Inter Milan could get the player’s full €50m clause. Tuttosport have now brought Arsenal in at that level.
They say the player’s €50m clause ‘does not seem to scare’ Arsenal, and Inter Milan are happy to sell.
If for one minute we pretend Arsene Wenger is actually interested (he may be, Brozovic is a good player), there’s no way they’d go anywhere near €50m. If only because Inter Milan seem to have been pushing his sale through the Italian media for a year, with the price around €25m.
Inter Milan have big plans for the summer transfer window, and they appear to be hoping Premier League clubs will fund them. It’s unlikely, to that extent anyway, and Arsenal won’t be taken for a ride.
