Former Leeds United striker Pawl Cibicki looks set to be banned from football for four years in a move that could bring his career to a premature end.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, who say the striker is set to be convicted and punished regarding offences relating to bet fixing.
They explain that Cibicki, who left Leeds on a permanent basis in January 2020 after three years with the club, was convicted of taking a bribe, to get himself yellow carded, by the Court of Appeal last year.
The charge was in relation to a game against Kalmar FF in which the striker got himself booked, an event that could be bet on.
He was subsequently found guilty and has been suspended by the Swedish Football Association until 2025 due to the incident.
Now he has been suspended further, with FIFA announcing today that he has been suspended from gambling for four years also.
That’s left his career hanging by a thread, with him set to be 32 by the time he can play another competitive game, should the football ban stand.
He currently turns out for Pogoń Szczecin in Poland, having joined the club from Leeds in January 2020.
Before that, he had spent previous seasons on loan away from Elland Road with the likes of Ado Den Haag, Elfsborg and Molde, having managed just ten appearances for Leeds following a £1.44m move from Malmo FF in August 2017.
