On Thursday, Marca have a big article about Real Madrid recruitment, and Tottenham get a mention.
First up is Eden Hazard, with it being claimed his signing will be official in a matter of days.
Then Paul Pogba is the next man mentioned, but Marca say the club aren’t as keen on the Manchester United midfielder as Zinedine Zidane is. They watch him constantly, and whilst they consider him to be a great player, there’s doubts over whether he’d make enough of a difference.
Christian Eriksen is next. As the Pogba line has gone down, the Tottenham ace has seen his rise.
That Spurs are through to the Champions League semi-finals is obviously a boost for interest, as is the player’s contract situation.
Marca say there were contacts last year, but Daniel Levy asking for €150m meant there was never any actual attempt.
Now, ‘his name is on the table’.
The Spanish newspaper states: ‘The Dane has given the order to wait for the decision of Zinedine Zidane before deciding on Tottenham’s renewal offer or a possible departure to another team.’
They add: ‘All parties are waiting.’
That would mean a renewal remains a possibility. At least from this report, it doesn’t appear that Madrid have fully decided who they want yet.
Other options are Ajax’s man-of-the-moment Donny van de Beek and Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić.
