Dijon FCO’s Didier Ndong has emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United in the next window.
The Ligue 1 side, who took the 27-year-old from Guingamp in 2019, allowed him to go out on loan to Yeni Malatyaspor last summer.
Operating mainly in the middle of the pitch and as a defensive midfielder, the Gabon international made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish side this season.
Ndong’s contract with the French club will run down in 2023, but he will leave them for the Magpies after this season. That’s according to L’Union in Gabon, who explain the player ‘will sign’ for Eddie Howe’s side in the summer.
A ‘reliable source close to Dijon’ informed L’Union the Tyneside club leaders made an offer to buy the former Sunderland man on Monday.
It’s claimed the two ‘parties have agreed’, and Newcastle will pay €2m to Dijon, which will be paid in two instalments. Ndong, on the other hand, will be offered a three-year deal that includes a salary of €100,000 per week.
The report further adds the midfielder is ‘expected in the coming weeks’ at Dijon to sort out ‘all the practicalities related to his departure’.
