Paris Saint-Germain have a four-point plan, according to Le10 Sport on Thursday, and one of those points is “Philippe Coutinho signs to replace Angel Di Maria”.
The Liverpool attacking midfielder, who made his return from injury off the bench against Southampton on Wednesday, has been, and still is, one of the Ligue 1 champions’ long-term targets.
Back in October, Le10 Sport reported Liverpool had rejected a frankly risible €25m offer for the 24-year-old Liverpool star, and Paris Saint-Germain appear to have now understood it’s going to take a lot to convince Jürgen Klopp to let one of his best players leave.
The French magazine, this month, explain Julian Draxler was only signed in January because Nasser Al-Khelaifi realised he wouldn’t be able to sign Coutinho this winter after multiple contacts with Liverpool throughout December.
However, Le10 and their information claim Paris Saint-Germain are still keeping in touch with Coutinho and his entourage regarding a summer transfer, letting him know they are likely to try again once the season comes to an end, this time with a bid of somewhere in between €50-70m.
Liverpool, aware of PSG’s interest, are now said to be trying to offer Coutinho a new £130k/week contract.
As for Di Maria, he’s going to be hopefully be sold to China next summer, while Javier Pastore and Hatem Ben Arfa are both also expected to leave.
That leaves plenty of space for a big summer signing, doesn’t it?
