UD Las Palmas’ hopes of keeping Leeds United striker Rafa Mujica next season are stumbling as Marcelo Bielsa’s side fail to make a decision on his future.
Mujica spent the second half of last season on loan with the Spanish side, having continued to be out of the picture at Elland Road.
He failed to make a huge impression at the club, managing just one goal, a strike on his debut.
Despite that the Spanish club were happy to keep him next season, something president Miguel Ángel Ramírez has confirmed, but it all rests on Leeds plans for him.
We’ve covered reports from Spain that Bielsa and co are yet to make a decision, and La Provincia, a Canary Islands newspaper, cover the situation today.
They say that a new loan at Las Palmas is ‘paralysed’ and ‘far from guaranteed’ at this moment in time.
The newspaper make no mention of why that is the case, but this does tally with earlier reports that Leeds were yet to make a decision on the striker.
Perhaps they would prefer to find a permanent exit for Mujica, who very much isn’t in their plans, before sanctioning another deal.
Alternatively, they could have just failed to get around to dealing with Mujica yet, given he is unlikely to be at the top of their list of priorities.
Either way, it seems everything is at a standstill, and the striker and Las Palmas will be waiting for some time before knowing if they can reunite next season.
