It seems that Manchester City have made an interesting approach looking to sign the Colombian winger Iván Angulo.

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola reports on his Yahoo blog today that Pep Guardiola’s side were looking for a ‘partnership’ to get the player in the future.

Angulo has just been transferred. He left Colombian side Envigado to join Palmeiras on a one-year loan deal. The Brazilian side have a buying option which amount hasn’t been revealed, exactly because of the other clubs looking for him.

A Palmeiras director has spoken to Nicola, and said: “A representative of Manchester City wanted to propose a future agreement. We didn’t even want to open a conversation. We are not interested in an Angulo partnership at this time.”

Nicola claims that the approach has been confirmed by two Palmeiras sources, although he doesn’t publish any quotes from the second person.

Angulo’s loan deal also includes a priority for Palmeiras, so there would be no chance for Manchester City to get the player without negotiating with the Brazilian club.

The 19-year-old is expected to be playing for Palmeiras’ U20 squad this year, so unless he impresses and is promoted to the first team, it’s unlikely he will have much success in Brazil this year.
