This year’s L’Equipe Ligue 1 wages list again has interest for Sunderland.

Last year the French newspaper reported the club continued to pay Wahbi Khazri €40k per month during his Rennes loan, that was on top of the €140k the French club were paying him.

Papy Djilobodji was on loan at Dijon, who were paying him €60k a month, which Sunderland were topping up by a further €100k a month.

This year things are a little better, although money is still heading to France for nothing.

L’Equipe report the League One club are paying Lamine Kone €60k per month, which tops up his €40k from Strasbourg.

So what of Djilobodji now? He and Didier Ndong were both booted out of Sunderland following the summer transfer window, with claims and counter claims going both ways.

The two have ended up at Guingamp, where L’Equipe say they earn €80k per month each. At least Sunderland aren’t paying any of it.

Djilobodji first Ligue 1 match for Guingamp was a 9-0 loss to PSG. His second against Reims saw him sent off in the 59th minute for kicking Pablo Chavarria in the face, breaking his opponent’s nose. It may be possible to argue it was an accident, but he’s been banned for six matches.

Guingamp are bottom of the table after 22 matches.
