Thilo Kehrer arrived at West Ham United from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. During his four-year spell with the Ligue 1 winners, the defender never made more than 19 starts in the league during a season.
In order to have continuity, the Germany international signed for the Premier League side.
The centre-back has been a regular at West Ham this season, making 13 league starts since he joined them on August 17th. The 26-year-old’s form has seen Hansi Flick include him in the national team squad for the 2022 World Cup.
David Moyes’ man spoke to reporters on Sunday, where he was asked about his decision to join the Hammers.
“It was that I wanted to have the best possible rhythm of play. That paid off very well, I was able to play all the games for West Ham,” he said, relayed by Sport1.
On West Ham’s season so far, the German explained: “We didn’t get the results with West Ham because certain things were lacking. Nevertheless, I arrived with self-confidence.”
Moyes has used Kehrer both in the heart of the defence and as a right-back. The latter has admitted he is ready to operate anywhere across the back line for his country at the FIFA tournament.
The West Ham player made his Germany debut in 2018 but has been a regular for them after Flick was appointed as the national manager in May 2021.
