Estadio Deportivo report that Pablo Sarabia is receiving interest from the Premier League and elsewhere.

It’s explained that Chelsea were considering paying the player’s release clause during the January window. That clause rises to €22m for the final two weeks of a transfer market, and it’s the amount the Blues were thinking about.

PSG are also said to be keen, and Chinese club Dalian Yifang were ready to offer high wages.

However, despite the interest, Sarabia wasn’t considering going anywhere. He’s happy in Spain and wouldn’t have left unless there was an offer which was too good to turn down.

Estadio Deportivo say the issue will rise again ahead of the summer if Sevilla and the player’s representatives can’t agree on a new deal.

The current contract lasts until June 2020, and hasn’t been renewed since 2016. Chelsea and others wouldn’t have an issue with the clause.

What the Premier League club weren’t willing to offer is huge wages. It’s explained that to move, Sarabia’s representative was looking for the player to earn around €5m a year after tax, whereas Chelsea were offering about €4m.

The 27 year old plays in central midfield for Sevilla and has nine goals and seven assists so far this season.
