Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Daniel Farke has praised defender Jordan Beyer for the “outstanding” season he has had with Burnley so far.
Beyer is currently on loan with the Clarets, having arrived in the summer as part of Vincent Kompany’s extensive overhaul of the squad.
He’s proven to be a big hit since minute one, establishing himself in the heart of Burnley’s defence and earning himself the nickname BeckenBeyer with the club’s fans.
It was initially believed the loan deal does not include an option for Burnley to buy him permanently, meaning Beyer looked set to return to Gladbach in the summer once the loan deal was over.
However, it’s since been revealed that there is a clause for Burnley to take advantage of if they are promoted to the Premier League as expected.
Whether that happens remains to be seen but it seems Gladbach have been watching his development closely regardless, and are delighted by what they’ve seen.
“I will pass the question on to Roland Virkus. The next time he is present here, he can gladly comment on it,” Gladbach Live report Farke saying when asked about Beyer joining Burnley permanently.
“My job is to deal with realities – and that is our current squad.
“It was a great pleasure for me to work with Jordan back then. Nevertheless, he decided to take the step towards England.
“He’s doing an outstanding job, I have to say. In England, he has made a great development. For him personally – and therefore for us, for Borussia Mönchengladbach – it’s a great story.”
