Two days ago, The Sun in England carried a report claiming that Liverpool are keen on Ousmane Dembele and the Reds are ready to splash £85m (€97.8m) to bring the Barcelona forward to Anfield in January.
Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on further strengthening his side’s attack to improve their chances of winning the Premier League title and also progressing further in the Champions League this season.
Mundo Deportivo decodes the report from the Sun in today’s edition of the Catalan newspaper. It’s a huge front page story, with the initial headlines, which shout about an ‘offer’, then fading somewhat in the actual article.
They point out there is ‘no evidence whatsoever’ of an offer on the table for the World Cup winner.
The 21-year-old has been in the news for his poor attitude and lack of professionalism and the same publication reported on Wednesday the player’s agent, Moussa Sissok,o met the La Liga winners’ leaders to discuss his client.
Barca have made it clear that their priority is to retain him, but if he fails to change, they will study his sale, provided they receive a major bid for Dembele.
Part of Mundo Deportivo’s story states 70% of Barcelona fans polled back selling Dembele to Liverpool for €100m.
We will have more on this saga as and when there are more developments.
