In Antonio Conte’s first window at Tottenham Hotspur, the north London club added Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur to their squad. The two arrived from Juventus towards the end of the winter market.
The ex-Chelsea boss gave an interview to Sky Italia last month, stating Spurs are looking at ‘young players ready to be developed’ and ‘not ready players’, which is what he is likelier to look for.
Reports coming out of Italy have indicated the 52-year-old ‘expects’ the Premier League side to sign ‘ready to win’ players in the next window.
Conte enjoyed a good start after taking over Tottenham last November, but has seen his side struggle in recent weeks. Spurs suffered four defeats in their last six league matches and were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough.
After the Burnley defeat, Conte admitted Tottenham may have to make an assessment over his position at the club.
Gianluca Nani, an experienced director of football and sporting director, who worked at West Ham United, Watford and Reading, was asked to share his views on Conte’s latest outburst.
“He is always the right person. He’s a great coach. He is proud, he would always like to win,” Nani told TuttoMercatoWeb.
The director was further asked whether Tottenham will look at the Italian market in the summer.
He said: “In the meantime, let’s see how the season ends. We’ll see. If you take Conte you have to follow him, otherwise it makes little sense. Tottenham will intelligently operate in the market and intervene to strengthen the team.”
