Earlier today we covered a claim from Spanish newspaper AS that Arsenal’s Cedric Soares has been offered to Atletico Madrid, but it was also stated Diego Simeone’s side weren’t overly interested at this stage.

Los Rojiblancos are looking for an addition after selling Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United. They’d wanted to keep the England international, especially after he impressed for the club last season, but Trippier wanted a return to English football, and Newcastle went ahead and got the signing secured for Eddie Howe.

El Desmarque also cover the Cedric Soares situation, and they seem rather more optimistic on the chances of Atletico making a move for the Arsenal player.

They say they’ve been ‘able to confirm’ that the Gunners man is a a possible signing for Simeone this month, he’s an ‘option on the table’. Atletico would be considering a loan move until the end of the season, with a clause meaning they’d then have the opportunity to make the transfer permanent.

No formal proposal has yet been sent to Arsenal, so things aren’t at an advanced stage, and there’s no hint of what the clause amount, for a permanent transfer, would be.
