On Tuesday, we covered claims from Germany that Barcelona are prepared to pay €40m to sign Karim Adeyemi from Red Bull Salzburg.

It was even claimed the Blaugrana would be ready to make an offer this week, despite the player and his club preferring a move in the summer window rather than the next market.

Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the attacker, and it was suggested they have the upper hand in the tussle, despite Barcelona likely offering bigger wages over the course of a five year contract.

The claims have reached the Catalan press, and Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports ‘there is optimism’ at Barcelona over signing Adeyemi. It’s explained the club have followed him for years, and turned down the chance to sign him for €8m in 2019.

Despite that, they didn’t stop keeping an eye on his progress.

According to the report, the player’s agents have held multiple meetings with Barcelona, in which Adeyemi’s desire to join them has been made clear.

Therefore, it’s believed Barcelona are in control of the situation and the transfer is ‘well on track’.

Mundo say a January move would be very difficult, but Xavi Hernandez’s side believe a summer switch could be arranged for a fee around €30m plus bonus payments.

That would of course go against the German claims of an imminent €40m offer.
