Tottenham are unlikely to hire Genk director of football Dimitri De Condé this summer, at least according to Genk chairman Peter Croonen.

He’s been speaking to TVL’s Sportcafé, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, about his director of football after he was linked with a move away from the Belgian club in recent weeks.

De Condé’s work in Genk has reportedly earned him interest from England, where Leeds, Southampton and Tottenham have all been named as potential suitors in the last few weeks.

Indeed, a report towards the end of last month indicated that Tottenham had turned towards him as they look to hire a replacement for Fabio Paratici.

The Italian departed the club earlier this year after being caught up in alleged financial misconduct allegations in Italy from his time at Juventus, with an initial ban in Italy being extended worldwide by FIFA.

He was initially set to stay on but then later elected to leave his role, leaving Tottenham to hunt for a replacement across Europe.

They’ve been linked with named at various clubs in various leagues since, with Daniel Levy seemingly leaving no stone unturned in his efforts to find the next man to lead Tottenham off the pitch.

De Condé is one of those who had popped up as an option, but his chairman believes a departure this summer is unlikely, even if he does have to keep an eye on the situation.

“The opposite would surprise me. Dimitri is an exceptional talent in very many ways. But he is fortunately also a real Genkie,” he said.

“He lives and breathes here. He is also very grateful to the club for the opportunities he has been given, but above all he has fulfilled them cleverly and strongly himself.

“He is someone who will always generate interest. Whether he has declared his long-term commitment? Yes anyway. He is someone who is keen to continue with us. But also, someone we must continue to watch over his position.”
