When Philippe Coutinho left Barcelona to join Aston Villa in January, there was, of course, some doubts about how well he’d do in his return to the Premier League.
However, it only took him a few games to show what he’s capable of, and manager Steven Gerrard already claimed he’d like the club to trigger the buying option they have over him.
Now the chances of his stay in England are already being commented by the Spanish media as well. Today, Radio Marca had a word with journalist Nacho Gonzalez, who pointed out that Coutinho may find a good solution at Aston Villa, despite being far from featuring in the Champions League again.
“If Coutinho looks at his surroundings, he may see in Aston Vila an opportunity to return to playing regularly and to have a scenario in which he will not reach the Champions League, but he will once again be a brilliant player in the Primer League,” Gonzalez told Marca Radio.
Since joining Aston Villa, Coutinho has three goals and three assists in seven appearances. The Premier League side are believed to have a buying option worth €40m, even though that can certainly be negotiated until the summer transfer window.
