Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodj is still hoping for a move to the Premier League this summer, according to claims in Belgium.
The Senegal international was linked with a move to Crystal Palace in the last window, and with the Premier League side keen to sign a defender this could give them an opportunity.
Crystal Palace offered €12m for Kara during the last transfer window, and it was claimed Anderlehct turning down such a fee had gone to the player’s head.
HLN, via Voetbal Nieuws, have reported that despite Kara reporting back for preseason training with Anderlecht he still hopes for a move to England before the deadline. The player was close to getting a transfer to England in January, and was assured at the time that he could move in the summer.
Leicester City, also linked at the time, are now unlikely to be in the market for a central defender following the signing of Harry Maguire from Hull City. This leaves Crystal Palace as a clear candidate to sign Kara, after again being linked with the player last month.
It’s been well documented Frank de Boer wants to sign a defender, and the London club have been linked with the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Adil Ram, Davinson Sánchez, and Thomas Vermaelen.
Kara impressed for Anderlecht against Manchester United last season, taking his domestic form to a bigger stage, and Crystal Palace returning would be no surprise, it’s down to De Boer now.
