Earlier on Tuesday, we covered part of a DH interview with Daniel van Buyten about the failed transfer that would have taken Ishak Belfodil from Standard Liège in Belgium to Everton in the Premier League.

The Algerian striker was the subject of a €12m bid from the Toffees to bring him to Goodison Park in January, but the deal eventually collapsed, with some blaming Everton, while others pointed at agents meddling in affairs that didn’t belong to them.

Daniel van Buyten was quick to defend Christophe Henrotay, the main accused, in his interview, but Ishak Belfodil, replying to the interview via his Instagram account, hinted that what the former Bayern Munich defender said about the Everton transfer wasn’t exactly true.

He wrote: “You don’t wash your dirty laundry in public. An opinion isn’t always the truth, especially when you say half the things to suit yourself (regarding the bit of the article that concerns me… The rest is none of my concern!). Good luck for the future Daniel Van Buyten”.

Extending his contract with Standard Liège further, Ishak Belfodil will now have to wait until the end of the season if he wants to get a move away from the Belgian club, but it seems unlikely that Everton will return for another go.

Claims Ronald Koeman wasn’t entirely convinced with the player have emerged since the transfer collapsed, and if that’s the case, he’ll definitely be looking elsewhere in the summer to bolster his attack.
