Things seemed to be perfectly fine for Paul Pogba at Manchester United over the past few days, with the midfielder opening the way for the Red Devils comeback against West Ham United on Saturday.

And while club fans expected some kind of resurgence from the Frenchman in the team, his agent Mino Raiola caught everyone by surprise by dropping a bomb on Monday afternoon.

The agent claimed that Pogba is unhappy at Old Trafford, and is likely to leave the club before his contract expires in 2022.

With the Italian media speculating about the player’s return to Juventus for years now, they were quick on taking Raiola’s quotes and making the move look likely again.

This evening, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato managed to get an interview with transfer intermediary Ivan Reggiani. He not only claimed that the move is possible, but also suggested the negotiations are already happening, as the midfielder could leave Old Trafford, initially on a loan deal, in January.

“Even his teammates in England think that Pogba can return to Italy, to Juventus. Operation well underway, around €50m plus some important bonuses,” Reggiani told Calcio Mercato.

“The usual onerous loan with outright acquisition next year, these should be details. The salary, on the other hand, should remain the same or, perhaps, even a little something can be removed.

“With the right mindset, he can really make a difference in a team like Juventus. He is an extraordinary player, in a role in which Pirlo’s team is struggling. Pogba was not happy in England, he started to throw a tantrum. It was a bad marriage from the beginning, there were serious problems. January or June? I think this operation is already ready for January, if Juventus wants to aim for the Champions League they must necessarily strengthen itself in the winter transfer market session.”

Whether Manchester United will be ready to part ways in January remains to be seen, but this drama will now overshadow the build-up to the matches against RB Leipzig and Manchester City.
