Yesterday, La Gazzetta dello Sport were confident that Napoli are in talks to sign Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa.
They stated the Italian would be keen on a return to Serie A and the idea of joining Napoli would appeal to him because of Champions League football.
More has now emerged about the winger’s future and journalist Ciro Venerato has revealed that the Liverpool star’s agent is not aware of interest from the Naples club and no movement has been made in that direction yet.
He told RAI, as relayed by CalcioNapoli24: “On Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa only denials, the agent is as unaware of this alleged approval as the Reds.”
Speaking further, the journalist stated that Napoli have now possibly moved on from the chase for Chiesa after attempting to sign him in the winter.
“Napoli followed Chiesa in January, now they seem to have other plans.”
The Italian definitely needs game time in the near future, considering how he has played only 13 times in all competitions this season. This has led to his exit from the Italian national team and only playing regularly can get him back in the the Azzurri side.
Therefore he likely needs to leave Liverpool soon or the wide player could be at risk of missing the 2026 World Cup.
