On Thursday, we covered claims from Belgium that Royal Antwerp have initiated contact to sign Leicester City’s Dennis Praet. It was also stated they are aiming to take him for a ‘reduced amount’ since the midfielder’s deal expires in the summer.

Friday’s Gazet van Antwerpen states the Jupiler Pro League side’s interest in 29-year-old is ‘obvious’, and he’s seen as a replacement for Arthur Vermeeren.

Royal Antwerp can take advantage of the Leicester man’s ability to operate as a defensive, box-to-box and attacking midfielder.

The Belgium international has been restricted to a limited role [six appearances] this season and the Foxes could benefit from his exit. Enzo Maresca is keen on bringing Inter Milan’s Stefano Sensi to the King Power Stadium and he could replace Praet.

It’s said Leicester would have to sell one of their players first to pay for Sensi’s transfer. Praet’s deal lasts until the summer and therefore, he seems to be a ‘logical candidate’.

Gazet van Antwerpen questions whether it would be financially feasible for Royal Antwerp to sign the Belgian, considering he’s not able to ‘provide significant added value’ in the long run and they can’t fetch a large sum from his future sale.

If he has no interesting offers, the newspaper suggests the Leicester player may have to compromise [likely financially] and join Royal Antwerp, to maintain hope of representing Belgium at the Euros.
