TRT Spor journalist Fatih Dogan has claimed Besiktas are making progress in their pursuit of Everton striker Cenk Tosun.

The Turkey international has been linked with a return to the Super Lig side following his struggles this season with Everton.

Speaking to TRT Spor as covered by Kartal Analiz, Dogan said Besiktas manager Abdullah Avci has given the green light to sign the 28 year old and he added that Tosun will join the club on a six-month loan contract. “One of the main targets for Besiktas in this transfer window is Cenk Tosun. Yesterday, Besiktas have made progress. The plan for him is to play at Besiktas until the end of the season and regain some form ahead of Euro 2020.”

Dogan also added that if the deal goes through, Besiktas won’t pay a loan fee to Everton and there’s likely to be no redemption clause for the Istanbul side to sign the striker permanently in the summer

Last week it was reported Tosun is close to leaving Everton, with Crystal Palace said to be interested in signing him in this transfer window.

He wasn’t involved in Everton’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool and that has encouraged further doubt over his future at Goodison Park in the Turkish press.
