Multiple reports throughout the Spanish sport media have made it clear Chelsea are moving forward to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
The Blues had tried to get the Frenchman last summer, reportedly even agreeing personal terms at the time, yet they couldn’t agree a fee with the Spanish side.
Chelsea are now said to have reached €65m, and that’s a figure which Sevilla sporting director Monchi will accept. Should everything stay as it is, Kounde is expected to join the Premier League club.
However, Sport state Sevilla are expecting ‘one last madness’ from Barcelona, who also have interest in the defender. The Catalan newspaper say Chelsea are ‘very advanced’ with the signing, but Barca could make a late offer to try and ruin that.
It’s made clear that Barcelona can’t reach the €65m that Chelsea are prepared to pay, therefore, the only way they could sign Kounde is if the player refuses to join anyone else but the Blaugrana.
That would be similar to what Raphinha did when leaving Leeds United. Whilst Sport insist that if it was a straight choice between Chelsea and Barcelona, the player would choose the latter, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of confidence he’ll outright refuse a move to Stamford Bridge.
