For the last week or so, Everton have been credited with an interest in Dynamo Kyiv’s Vitaliy Mykolenko.
According to the Ukrainian club’s manager, Mircea Lucescu, the Toffees target is set to make a switch to the Premier League.
Telekom Sport in Romania have comments from the coach and their report’s title states ‘Dinamo Kyiv sold a player in the Premier League!’, followed by a comment from Lucescu, stating: “He’s gone!”.
The outlet reiterates the left-back has been linked to the Merseyside club in recent days and further add the English press ‘wrote about the agreement between Dinamo Kyiv and Everton for the transfer of Mykolenko’, for a fee of about €20m.
Lucescu didn’t specifically name the Ukraine international, but the manager did mention one of his players is moving to Everton.
“One of them went to Everton, England. After [Andriy] Yarmolenko [to Borussia Dortmund in 2017], it’s Dinamo Kyiv’s first big transfer,” the Romanian manager said.
“He’s a young player, which is an example for others to come. It’s very important that beyond the results, to give young players the opportunity to have a perspective.”
The 22-year-old came up through the ranks of the Ukrainian club’s youth system before being promoted to the first team in 2016. He has been a regular there since July 2018. This season, the defender has made 21 appearances in all competitions and registered three assists in the process.
Recent reports in the British media have explained Lucas Digne has failed to convince Rafael Benítez. If Everton end up signing Mykolenko, he could get ahead of the fullback in the pecking order.
