Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner believes his old team Eintracht Frankfurt have every chance of beating Tottenham when they meet in the Europa League this week.

Glasner has been speaking exclusively to BILD ahead of the game this week, which could be a defining one for Tottenham in particular.

They are now hanging all of their hopes on winning the Europa League this season to make the best of what has been a disastrous campaign for them.

They currently sit 14th in the table 17 points clear of the relegation battle but eight outside of the top ten and 16 points behind the top four.

The pressure is very much on Ange Postecoglou, who is not expected to remain in charge beyond the summer unless there is a major turnaround in performances at the club, never mind the feeling towards him personally.

The focus is now on winning the Europa League to get back into the Champions League that way, but they face a difficult test against Eintracht Frankfurt, who currently sit third in the Bundesliga.

Glasner knows all about the German club, continuing to keep a keen eye on them after his departure in 2023 despite now thriving at Crystal Palace.

And the Crystal Palace boss believes that the game is perfectly in the balance, with Tottenham’s injury problems this year giving the German side an advantage.

“If the third-placed team in the Bundesliga plays against the 14th-placed team in the Premier League, why shouldn’t they have a chance? For me, it’s a match on equal terms,” he said.

“Tottenham have a really good team, but many players aren’t in top shape because they lack rhythm due to injuries. That can be an advantage.

“Eintracht shouldn’t understate their worth. They have the quality to win. Of course, Tottenham plays with great pressure, with tremendous pace, both in attack and defense.

“And they want a lot of possession, especially at home. But that creates space for counterattacks. Eintracht can exploit that, because that’s their strength.

“Both teams have the quality to create chances. In the end, efficiency will decide.”
