Oliver Glasner’s assistant coach at Crystal Palace, Ronald Brunmayr, has hinted he wouldn’t be interested in leaving the Premier League this summer.

Brunmayr has been speaking to Der Standard in Austria about his time at Crystal Palace so far and working with Glasner.

The Crystal Palace manager is currently one of the hottest names in the managerial game after leading the Eagles to midtable security and the FA Cup final this season. They take on Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

It’s been a successful year in charge for the Austrian in which he’s lead Palace away from relegation danger and established an exciting, attacking brand of football in which the likes of Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton and Jean Philippe Mateta are shining.

His work has not gone unnoticed, and he continues to be linked with potential jobs this summer, with RB Leipzig putting him on their shortlist.

Indeed, several reports in Germany have claimed that they’ve already spoken to Glasner about a potential return to the Bundesliga this summer. He previously enjoyed success with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

Brunmayr, though, insists the focus is fully on the Premier League and Glasner wants to remain in England.

“When the Frankfurt story was over, it was nice to enjoy the summer at home for once,” he said.

“That was the first time for me since my first year as a professional. But you miss something. You think the offers will pour in after Frankfurt’s not-unsuccessful start, but the market is tough.

“I understand the head coaches who need a break—but then getting back into the swing of things isn’t that easy. Oliver made it clear he wants a different one. See the country; the Premier League was his goal. But the island is the island.

“What’s outside of it doesn’t really register. It’s nice when you’ve won the Europa League, but sometimes you think the title in the second division in England counts more.”
