Juventus scouts were expected to attend the match between Southampton and Everton at the St. Mary’s today, reports Calciomercato.
The Serie A giants want to keep an eye on Romelu Lukaku, who is believed to be a long term target for the Turin club.
Calciomercato say Juventus want to find a replacement for Croatian star Mario Mandzukic, who could leave the club soon. Juventus believe Lukaku is a player similar to Mandzukic, and will be a perfect fit for them to support the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala.
It’s been reported Juventus can’t be scared away with a huge price tag, especially after their capture of Higuain this summer, and they’re ready to spend big again. Calciomercato believe Mino Raiola’s good relation with Juventus could also help them sign Lukaku.
Lukaku was linked with several top European clubs during the summer transfer window, and many believe it’s only a matter of time before the Belgian international leaves the Merseyside club. Even Ronald Koeman has insinuated it.
The 23-year-old has a contract until 2019 at Everton, and it’d be interesting to see if Everton can extend his contract before next summer. As for moving to Juventus, given Higuain is the star man, and Paulo Dybala his support act, Lukaku may well not see it as an attractive option.
