In the past four seasons, Manchester United have repeatedly looked at Portuguese market for new players.

Victor Lindelöf arrived at Old Trafford from Benfica in 2017 and a year later, Diogo Dalot was signed from FC Porto.

In the past 18 months, the Red Devils added Bruno Fernandes and Alex Telles to their squad and the two arrived in England from Sporting and Porto respectively.

Fernandes played a vital role in helping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finish in the top four last season, and also had a key role this term, as United finished second in the table and now face Villarreal in the Europa League final later today.

João Ferreira has been working as a scout for the Premier League side for the past five years and Record on Wednesday state the Manchester United official ‘endorsed’ signing Fernandes, Telles and Lindelöf for the English club.

The newspaper also explains Ferreira, who in the past worked as Gabon assistant manager, is unlikely to continue at Manchester United.

As per the report, Ferreira will replace Diogo Boa Alma to become CD Santa Clara’s new sporting director. These claims are also reported by A Bola, who explain the deal should be made official soon.
