Over the past few days, we have seen a number of articles and claims suggesting that Newcastle United are keen on Sven Botman.

The latest stated the Dutchman, currently at Lille, was the one of the ‘dream’ signings for the new owners, but that they might find some reluctance from the player’s end due to their current situation.

Picking up their first win of the season following Eddie Howe’s appointment, the Magpies looked to have turned things around a bit, but a 4-0 loss to Leicester at the weekend quickly brought them back to reality.

New signings in January will be needed, and while Botman is on their list, money will also be needed to convince Lille to part ways.

The Magpies are reportedly ‘ready for big signings’, and it seems that Botman is the man they are going to throw the kitchen sink at first.

In fact, they believe Botman now ‘takes a step’ towards St James’ Park, with the Premier League now seen as the ‘most likely destination’ for him.
