Ruben Amorim repeatedly starting Alejandro Garnacho for Manchester United, especially given how keen the manager has been on chopping and changing with his line-up, has been seen as a clear sign that he’s not keen on the Argentine leaving.

At one point around a week or so ago, the Italian media were confident that a move to Napoli was on the verge of happening.

Manchester United were asking for more than the Serie A club wanted to pay, but it was repeatedly insisted that the Red Devils appeared keen to be helpful in negotiations and reach some kind of deal.

Then the Chelsea claims grew in seriousness and that appeared to dampen Italian confidence.

AreaNapoli now report their local club are giving it one last throw of the dice, to try and secure Garnacho. It’s claimed that in the last few hours, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has spoken to Manchester United officials, and decided to up the offer to €55m plus bonuses.

It’s not clear how much the bonuses amount is, but €5m would be a good guess.

For Napoli, that offer represents their ‘maximum amount’, and AreaNapoli state a reply is expected in the next few hours. If that reply is a rejection then Antonio Conte’s side will give up.
