A few days ago Spanish ‘football coach, journalist and media coach’ Edgar Navaroo tweeted that rumours of SD Huesca making a move for Samu Saiz this summer were wide of the mark.
He added that Getafe had made a €7m offer and Valencia €10m, both rejected by Leeds.
This was then picked up by Fichajes and then ended up on the endless Leeds United pushing websites.
Crucially, there’s somewhere it hasn’t ended up: The rest of the Spanish media.
If it was truly thought that Getafe and Valencia had made offers for the Leeds United player then it would have been covered. Even if it was half thought, even if it was thought there was a shred of truth anywhere, it would have been covered.
€7m is around Getafe’s record transfer fee, it’d be a big deal.
As for Valencia, the club has local sport newspaper Super Deporte covering absolutely anything that goes on at the club. There’s at least two further specialist websites, a radio station pushing out Valencia news constantly, and coverage in all the sports newspapers every single day.
If the club were interested in a 14 year old from a local school team it would be reported.
This claim has either been seen and completely dismissed without a second thought, or has managed to hide from the media who cover Valencia and Getafe.
