On July 26th, we covered a report from Mundo Deportivo, which claimed the negotiations between Everton and Barcelona for Lucas Digne are ‘firm’ and ‘advancing’.
The France international moved to the Camp Nou from PSG in 2016.
The La Liga winners paid €16.5m plus €4m in variables to the Italian capital club to secure the left-back’s services.
Since joining the Blaugrana, the 25-year-old has been in the shadow of Jordi Alba, who has been the first choice left-back at the club. Mundo Deportivo now claim the player has failed to convince the leaders of the club and he is likely heading towards the exit.
The Catalan newspaper mentions ‘there is an offer’ from the Merseyside club for Digne, according to ‘sources at the (Catalan) club. It is believed to be more than €16.5m and the report snipes that if it’s correct then it’s the best contribution the fullback will have made to Barcelona.
Mundo’s report does not give details of the offer. Spanish newspaper AS, on the other hand, have mentioned Barcelona could earn €25m from their defender’s sale.
This figure appears to have come from claims in England of an offer over £20m, which doesn’t make sense given Barca’s asking price has been €16m.
