Even in France, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is starting to become a talking point, especially with all the rumours in the Italian press claiming Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the Serbian midfielder.

L’Equipe, ahead of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, had a chat with Ousmane Dabo, who spent five seasons at Lazio, and Stefano Mauri, about the 23-year-old, and the comparisons with a certain Manchester United’s Paul Pogba are rife.

Describing him in their headline as ‘The Serbian Pogba’, the French newspaper manage to get their interviewees to talk about how similar the two young midfielders are.

Straight away, Dabo wants to make one thing clear: “Paul is more of a showman”.

For Mauri: “Yes, the Frenchman plays a bit more, but they have a similar physical structure. It’s really hard to get the ball off them. Sergej needs to rub out his weaknesses. He’s a bit amateur when his team start winning by a large margin”.

Then comes the part where talk of a transfer in the summer pops up, and everyone knows by now that José Mourinho is apparently a big fan of the Serb, who has all the ‘physical’ attributes to fit in his midfield, let’s say, in Marouane Fellaini’s stead.

Stefano Mauri isn’t convinced it’ll happen, mostly because of Lazio’s owner.

He said: “I don’t know if he’s ready to sell. If you offer him €50m, he wants €100m. If you offer him €200m, he wants €300m. The summer will be long”.

Manchester United and José Mourinho have been, indirectly, warned.
