Luis Diaz has confirmed he plans to sit and talk with Liverpool about a new contract soon and he wants to stay at Anfield.

Journalist Pipe Sierra has an exclusive with the Liverpool forward today and a short interview with the Colombian in which he confirms plans to discuss his contract situation.

Diaz is currently in the final year of his deal at Liverpool and reports over the last few weeks have indicated he will sit down with the club in the coming weeks.

The Reds will be keen to avoid a similar situation to what they have found themselves in this year, in which Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all found themselves in their final years.

That overshadowed much of the campaign and both Salah and Van Dijk have only signed extensions in recent weeks after months of speculation. Alexander-Arnold has announced his intention to leave, with a move to Real Madrid on the cards.

A decision therefore has to be made on Diaz, who would need to be moved on this summer rather than losing him on a free next year if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

He, though, appears determined to stay and has confirmed that talks are on the way to get a deal signed.

“I’ve been happy since the first day I arrived. I’ve always been very, very happy,” he said.

“I’m very calm always enjoying the football played here especially in this great team. At this great institution like Liverpool. So, we won’t be talking about anything there.

“Obviously, we’ll talk about it. And as far as I’m concerned, I’d stay as many years as possible. So, everything depends on the club. They sort out the details separately.

“Right now, we’re living in a moment of Liverpool happiness, enjoying the rewards, and nothing is going to happen.”
