The agent of Alexandre Mendy has denied receiving an offer from Celtic for the SM Caen star.
A week ago, L’Equipe came out with a report stating about the ‘great interest’ from the Hoops to sign the Ligue 2 striker.
The French newspaper also went on to explain that Celtic have ‘already made a proposal’ of €3m ‘in order to attract him’.
Claims of the Parkhead club making a proposal to sign the 28-year-old, who has scored 16 goals and registered one assist from 31 Ligue 2 matches, has now been dismissed by his agent, Warsame Egal.
The representative earlier told Le10 Sport his client is attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Following L’Equipe’s report about Celtic’s offer, the website again approached Egal for a response and that’s when he denied these claims.
“We don’t know where it comes from… If a club wants a player, we still start by asking the player if he wants to come, right? I haven’t been contacted by anyone, so I think it’s obviously not true,” Egal told Le10 Sport.
The Guinea-Bissau international’s current deal with Caen will run down in 2024. As it stands, there has been no proposal or official approach from Ange Postecoglou’s side to sign Mendy.
