Monday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Joachim Andersen is set to join Crystal Palace in a permanent move from Lyon.

Having spent last season on loan at Fulham, the defender has won fans in English football, and the French newspaper say that saw interest from Tottenham rise.

However, they then state that after Tottenham courting the player, Nuno Espirito Santo’s arrival killed interest at Spurs, allowing Crystal Palace into the picture.

L’Equipe report, according to their own sources, that Crystal Palace will be paying a little more than €16m to secure the deal, and the full value of the transfer could approach €20m, with bonus payments added.

It represents a loss for the Ligue 1 club, who paid Sampdoria €24m for Andersen two years ago.

The 25-year-old Denmark international moved to Italy in 2017 from Twente, and quickly started getting attention from big clubs around Europe.

When Lyon won the race it was considered to be a big deal for them, but Andersen wasn’t able to show the level they’d expected and the player himself continued to be tempted by the Premier League.
