Eredivisie giants Ajax have signed Chelsea’s Bertrand Traoré on loan for this season, reports Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf in their Thursday edition.

Ajax are in the transfer market for a striker following Arek Milik’s move to Napoli in a €34m deal.

De Telegraaf say Traore is keen on reuniting with Ajax coach Peter Bosz having already played under him at Vitesse. Traore was reluctant to stay at Chelsea as a back up option to Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi.

Ajax’s director of football Marc Overmars made numerous phone calls and emails to Chelsea for Traore, and the London club finally decided to loan him out in the last 48 hours.

It is reported Traore is expected to cost Ajax around €2m for the loan, and the youngster will now be hoping to feature regularly this season, and also has a chance to play in the Champions League.

The 20-year-old featured regularly in Chelsea’s pre-season games, but it seems Antonio Conte believes a loan spell will benefit the youngster.
