Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has left Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga out of his squad for November’s international break.
Last week, the Dane revealed the 22-year-old didn’t answer his calls or messages, after learning about his omission.
Fotbollskanalen explains the Nottingham Forest player’s behaviour last month wasn’t well received by the national team.
Tomasson called him up in September and October. The winger was an unused substitute for Sweden’s matches against Slovakia and Estonia last month.
Fotbollskanalen have found out from multiple sources that the Nottingham Forest player was disappointed not to have any minutes with the national team in October. Therefore, he ‘did not show up at the gathering’s closing dinner’.
It’s claimed Elanga was the only player not to attend the dinner last month.
The Sweden manager was asked about the Nottingham Forest attacker’s absence from the current group. His comments are relayed by SVT Sport.
“I don’t comment on what happens in the squad. It stays in the squad,” he said.
He was asked ‘how tough’ it is to deal with young players who are disappointed with their lack of minutes.
“We have clear guidelines on how we do things when we are together. It’s the same at my house. We want to socialise, we want to have a good time together,” Tomasson explained.
Elanga has registered two assists from 12 matches for Nottingham Forest this season.
