Celtic forward Luis Palma’s situation with Brendan Rodgers’ side has been getting regular coverage in the Honduran media.
The 24-year-old has been restricted to 37 minutes of action in the league for Celtic this season. He’s been left out of the Honduras squad for the ongoing international break.
Last weekend, El Heraldo reported the winger asked to be omitted from the national team squad, to focus on regaining his best form at Celtic.
On Tuesday, Honduras manager Reinaldo Rueda spoke to the media, and he didn’t hold back when issuing a warning to the Celtic player. His comments are relayed by El Gráfico.
Palma, who hasn’t played five consecutive matches for Celtic since February, made two appearances for his country in September. Rueda admitted last month that it’s not easy for the player with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The national team has now pointed out his struggles at Celtic since he picked up an injury in February. He remains hopeful Palma can regain his place under Brendan Rodgers and return to the Honduras squad next month.
“Luis Palma has faced difficult times after his injury in February. Although he had a good pre-season and some minutes, in the last month he has had no competition,” he said.
“It is a high risk for him to be out of his level, especially with complicated games ahead.
“In the matches against Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, we gave him minutes to stand out for his club, but he has had no recent activity. We hope he recovers, and we can count on him for the next date [international break].”
On Tuesday, Palma’s father talked about the possibility of the player leaving Celtic next year.
