Wesley Fofana has done everything he possibly can to get a move to Leicester City this summer, apart from going AWOL or refusing to play.
The defender has made it clear this would be a life changing move for him, allowing him to financially secure the future of his extended family.
It hasn’t come across as a young man being greedy, but rather someone who knows how difficult life can be and who wants to take an opportunity which isn’t guaranteed to come around again.
Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Leicester have made a final €40m, including bonuses, offer. Saint-Etienne haven’t ‘categorically rejected it’, which feels like progress.
That may have been irrelevant, with Fofana wanting Leicester City and ‘nowhere else’.
L’Equipe state: ‘He would have vigorously reminded Puel of this last weekend. His adamant coach wouldn’t have wanted to hear anything.’
Leicester’s offer could be their last, and it’s explained Saint-Etienne are considering it, with Puel maybe losing grip of the situation.
