Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is in the Colombia squad for the upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
It’s what the 22 year old has been working towards, and not the first recognition he’s got at national level this season. Previously speaking of his pleasure working under manager Steven Gerrard, things are going the right way for the young footballer.
After his call-up was confirmed, Morelos spoke to Colombia’s Win Sports and expressed his delight at being picked by his country again.
The Rangers player explained: “I am happy with this new cycle with the national team and I hope to take the opportunity. I have made a number of goals and thank God things have happened, I hope to take advantage.”
On his situation in the Scottish Premiership, Morelos was honest and said he feels it was hard to initially win over fans of the Glasgow club. Now he’s achieved that and has the resultant chants, so all is well: “It has been hard, winning the fans of the team is not easy, but they support my characteristics, they sing my name now and that is very pleasing for me, I hope to give them much joy.”
On Friday March 8th, Morelos signed a new Rangers contract which will keep him at Ibrox until June 2023.
