A few days ago German newspaper Bild launched the Luka Jovic to Chelsea rumour, or at least gave it a bit of a nudge.
They said there was a transfer fee of €45m ‘in the room’ for the player, it was all a little vague. That was then taken as a concrete absolute statement that Chelsea had made an offer worth €45m and the story then spread around the world sport media.
There hasn’t really been any update, but now Eintracht Frankfurt director Fredi Bobic has pretty much rubbished it.
A former star of the club and former Germany international, Bobic sounds a little irritated by all the rumours around Bobic. The player is on loan from Benfica with a buying which will be used.
Germany’s WAZ quote him as saying today: “So far, this is just typical leaves rustling with zero content. It did not scare me, but it surprised me, first it was Barcelona, then it was Real Madrid, now Chelsea, who’s tomorrow, Juve, the day after tomorrow, someone else, that was a bit too much.”
Reading between the lines, it’s not too hard to believe Bobic is either annoyed with an agent pushing stories or with the media coming up with them independently.
