Without a natural left-back beyond Nikolas Ioannou, Nottingham Forest will need to sign one before the start of the season.
It’s an important position, and getting the right man for the job will be key to Steve Cooper’s plans in what is expected to be a difficult season at City Ground.
That’s why it isn’t surprising to see them linked with an expensive move for a talented player in Omar Richards.
This comes courtesy of Florian Plettenberg, who took to Twitter to reveal that Nottingham Forest are ‘working hard on a transfer’ for the Bayern Munich defender.
X News Omar #Richards: Nottingham is working hard on a transfer! Both clubs are in contact. Bayern is keen to let him go. Transfer fee probably around €10-12m. But: No total agreement so far and the player has to say YES first. Further talks are planned. #NFFC @SkySportDE 🏴

In fact, the transfer fee will probably be ‘around €10-12m’, but as things stand, the Sky Germany journalist makes it clear there is ‘no total agreement’, and the player ‘has to say yes first’.
That’s why ‘further talks are planned’ in the near future, but it appears Nottingham Forest have found the man they want and will throw a fair chunk of the kitchen sink at him to bring him to City Ground.
