Last summer, Nottingham Forest signed Renan Lodi from Atlético Madrid on a loan deal with an option to buy set at €30m. The Tricky Trees had time until March to exercise the buying option, which they didn’t.
That’s at least what Marca are reporting and add that the left-back will now return to the La Liga side.
Lodi featured regularly for Nottingham Forest, making 28 league appearances, which included 26 starts. He has impressed for the English club, who are keen to sign him again.
It’s explained that ‘Nottingham Forest want him’ and will have to renegotiate another deal with Atlético.
The Brazil international’s deal is until 2026 but is not included in Diego Simeone’s plans. Los Rojiblancos, taking into account his good season in England, hope to cash in from his sale in the summer.
Nottingham Forest are ‘satisfied’ with his displays and are positioning themselves to be the ‘first to knock on the door’ of Atlético for the 25-year-old. In other words, they are set to reopen talks with the Madrid club.
Atlético have set €30m as the base price, which Steve Cooper’s side are ‘not willing to reach at the moment’.
Therefore, Atlético are ‘waiting for interesting proposals’ to arrive in the summer. Lodi, for his part, may have to train under Simeone’s orders during the pre-season, until he receives an attractive offer.
