Atlético Mineiro’s chase for Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa seems to have reached its final stage.
O Tempo now reports that the bid for the player is on the Reds’ table, and the Brazilian side are now waiting for the response.
Atlético Mineiro are reportedly offering €4m for the signing, and sources at the club claim there’s ‘optimism’ about an agreement being reached.
It’s pointed out by O Tempo that with Nottingham Forest having just announced Nuno Espírito Santo as their new manager, they’re now waiting for his take on the transfer as well.
Even though other Brazilian clubs, such as Flamengo, are said to be interested in Scarpa, Atlético are believed to have an advantage due to being the first to contact him and having his former manager Luiz Felipe Scolari in charge.
Before selling the midfielder, Nottingham Forest will have to break his loan spell at Olympiacos, as his deal there runs until next summer. But that doesn’t seem to be a problem for any of the clubs, as long as the player gives the green light as well.
