Nottingham Forest have seen their first offer for VfB Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala rejected by the German club.
That’s according to Stuttgarter Nachrichten, who say the bid of €11m from Nottingham Forest was ‘rejected’ out of hand.
The Tricky Trees have been busy strengthening their squad this summer after promotion from the Championship, spending just shy of €70m so far.
A large portion of that has been spent on players from Germany, with deals for Taiwo Awoniyi, Moussa Niakhate and Omar Richards already completed.
It seems they’ve now set their sights on a fourth addition, with Stuttgart’s Mangala also on their wishlist.
They’ve already seen an €11m bid rejected by the German side, whose sporting director Sven Mislintat is instead looking for €15m and so the two clubs are now ‘in transfer negotiations’.
Whether that’s a figure Nottingham Forest are willing to pay isn’t mentioned, but there is competition from the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace.
Steve Cooper’s side may need to move quickly to get their man, then, with €4m only separating them from him at this moment in time.
