Championship side Nottingham Forest get some coverage in Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias today, as they’re linked to FC Porto goalkeeper José Sá.

Considering the certainty the outlet uses in their first words, it sounds like an exclusive story. But truth is that the rumour doesn’t end up being as reliable as it seems.

Jornal de Notícias say the claims from the English press said Jorge Mendes is the one who could take Sá to England, as he sees Forest as his new Championship project.

Well, we’ve followed after the claims, and they apparently came from website The72, who never really reported the interest. They just suggested that Mendes could bring Sá to Forest.

The reason The72 did it is because in a tweet last Sunday, journalist Alan Nixon reported the information about Jorge Mendes having Nottingham Forest as his new project.

Nixon never mentioned José Sá, and The72, considering that Forest need a goalkeeper, looked at Mendes’ clients and saw that the Porto goalkeeper may be available.

Truth is that despite these confusing claims, Jornal de Notícias doesn’t take the rumour with suspicion. They write as if it was pretty reasonable, especially with José Sá looking to get out of Iker Casillas’ shadow at Porto.

So even though the interest looks more like a fiction, it ends up being a possibility, and maybe an idea, for Forest and Mendes in this transfer window.
