Nottingham Forest summer target Santiago Giménez has elected to join Mino Raiola’s former agency, perhaps as an attempt to encourage Liverpool to move for him.
That’s according to Periodico AM, who report that the Feyenoord striker has moved to Raiola’s old agency, now led by Rafaela Pimenta, ahead of moving in future.
According to their information, the Mexican is determined to secure a ‘giant step’ to one of the big leagues in Europe in the coming months and has hired a new agent to try and help with that.
He had the chance to join Nottingham Forest in the summer but ultimately rejected their long efforts to get him, preferring to remain at Feyenoord in the Champions League this season if no big clubs were moving for him.
Now he’s decided to move to Pimenta’s agency, who also represent Erling Haaland, and is headed by the ‘most influential woman in the world of football’.
Periodico AM explain that Giménez spent several days reflecting on his short and medium-term future after the efforts by Nottingham Forest to get him this summer.
He, alongside members of his family, has now decided to ‘bet big’ and replace his old agents with a ‘highly important agent’ that can facilitate a move to a big league in Europe.
He has chosen Pimenta for her knowledge of the European market and he connections to the biggest clubs in every league.
One key connection could be that she represents Liverpool manager Arne Slot. He worked with Giménez at Feyenoord and it’s suggested that could open up a move to Liverpool in the coming months.
They’re not in desperate need of offensive reinforcements but perhaps if one player were to move on, say Darwin Núñez, that may open up space and Pimenta would be in an ideal position to suggest her own client.
