On January 27th, Bild reported Nottingham Forest had made an official request to sign RB Leipzig goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi in the winter market. It was also stated the Tricky Trees wanted to lure him and were willing to offer him a contract until 2026.
The 33-year-old has seen his game time restricted since the start of the last season and he’s made four appearances this season. Nottingham Forest were keen on signing him, but a deal didn’t take shape and the stopper is still at Leipzig.
Bild had a detailed chat with Gulácsi and asked if it was possible for him to change clubs in the last window.
When responding to that, the Hungary international didn’t specifically mention Nuno Espírito Santo’s side but did reveal an approach from the Premier League.
“There was concrete interest from the Premier League. But I realised that I would get the chance here at some point. And it was a clear no-go for the club. In this respect, the issue was quickly dealt with by both sides,” he said.
Nottingham Forest’s failure to sign the Bundesliga goalkeeper saw them shift their focus on Matz Sels and he joined them from RC Strasbourg on deadline day.
The Belgian made his debut in Nottingham Forest’s league draw against AFC Bournemouth and was left out of the squad to face Bristol City in the FA Cup.
